” Revitalization Begins with Demolition”
This newspaper headline caught my eye about a year or so ago. Even though the article was about rebuilding an area of town, it lines up with my thoughts on making progress with anything- family, friends, work, any task you set out to do and of course growing in Christ.
You can’t grow by keeping everything the same. In order to move ahead, something has to give; whether it’s bad habits, a change in lifestyle or location, or even getting rid of something that isn’t necessarily bad. You won’t be able to accomplish anything if you keep doing what is causing something not to work.
“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:19 ESV
By the same token, you also need to add things to your life to keep revitalization going. Make a way in the wilderness of your relationship with God. Go to that place you haven’t been with Him before. It may not be easy and it may be uncomfortable, but there will eventually be “rivers” (revitalization) in your relationship where there once was a desert. It doesn’t matter how long you have known Him, demolition and revitalization can happen at any time.
